Helping those who are underserved in downtown Jacksonville, Florida

904 Sock Drop, a ministry of Arlington United Methodist Church, is supported solely through generous donations. Bombas Socks supplies us with socks—the number one item requested by people experiencing homelessness. Through our partnership with Bombas, we are able to provide Blessing Bags and other essential items.

We provide a service once a month to those less fortunate who are considered the “Unseen”. These individuals do not seek out assistance, shelters etc… We take our mission to them, setting up on street corners, distributing Bombas socks, food, blessing bags and clothing. Want to be part of this Ministry? Come join us to pack or travel with us as we bring love dignity and respect to help those in need.

 

Two Processes We Use:

1. “Pack” – Pack supplies @ AUMC Chapel

2. “Drop” – Meet at AUMC Chapel to load supplies, head downtown Jax, and distribute supplies to the “unseen”.

We meet monthly , once to Pack and once to Drop

First Wednesday of Each Month – Pack

Third Friday of Each Month – Drop

Exception October’s Drop will take place on the 5th Friday

Our Last Outing – Downtown Jacksonville

Distributed fifty (50)+ “Blessing Bags” filled with snacks, bottled water, canned goods, personal hygiene kits and three (3) pairs of Bombas Socks. In addition to “Blessing Bags” we provided fresh fruit, iced tea, ice water and an abundance of assorted clothing.  In total, we provided seventy (60+) + people with basic needs, distributed with Christian love!

FYI – We have a system whereby we set up a distribution line on a street corner. As we are setting up, we ask those in need to form a line and when we are ready, we move people through the line in groups of five. It is an orderly process and serves everyone’s needs.

Interacting with those in need is truly a blessing. We go there to provide basic needs out of love, and we always leave feeling blessed by those we interact with.
